Human growth hormone is produced in the pituitary gland of humans, and this hormone is secreted all throughout in the life of a person. It helps promote growth in children and it plays an important role in adult metabolism. Major hormones secreted by the pituitary gland
There are seven major hormones that are secreted by the anterior pituitary. These hormones are:
• Human growth hormone (HGH). This hormone promotes a large amount in the size and number of body cells and is capable for growth and reproduction. It also stimulates protein synthesis and muscle growth while utilizing the body to use fat stores. The human growth hormone is also responsible in producing high blood sugar level by reducing carbohydrate utilization while it aids in repairing the damage tissues in the body.
• Adrenal Corticotrophic Hormone (ACTH). This hormone stimulates cortisol secretion from the adrenal glands. It has a decreasing effect on aldosterone and estrogen secretion.
• Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). This is responsible in increasing the amount and size of thyroid cells.
• Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). This helps in the formation of sperm cells in men and the development of egg cells and the production of estrogen in women.
• Luteinizing hormone (LH). In men, this hormone helps in the stimulation of the formation of testosterone, while in women it helps in the follicular growth, ovulation, and progesterone and estrogen production.
• Melanocyte stimulating hormone (MSH). This helps in controlling the darkening of the skin and also plays a role in visual retention and memory.
• Prolactin. This hormone helps in breast development during pregnancy.
There are also hormones secreted by the posterior pituitary namely the oxytocin, and antidiuretic hormones. These hormones are vital in the human growth hormones.
The pituitary gland and HGH are associated with each other. You have to make sure that you take care of the gland in order to address your HGH-related problems. This will also help you monitor your own growth from childhood to old age.
My doctor , over the past ten years, has been giving me levothyroxine…and it was increased yearly until last year it reached 225mg per day. A recent blood test indicated that I should drop 25 mg of that dose.
I have noticed – over the past year – a physical change. I am circumsied from birth. All of a sudden this year I seem to be growing a foreskin. The glans of my penis is now ordinarily half covered, or more – unless erect. Previously I could push skin up there, but it would not stay there.
